Our Turkey of the Week award goes to the wannabe anarchists who claimed responsibility for fire bombing a Royal Bank in downtown Ottawa on May 18. Said bombing resulted in an estimated $300,000 in damages.
The terrorists-in-training claimed they committed this act to protest RBC’s sponsorship of the Vancouver Olympics (an event held on “stolen indigenous land” according to the firebugs) and the bank’s involvement in the Alberta tar sands.
These anarchist activists are such turkeys that even their fellow black hoodie and balaclava buddies are denouncing their actions. Postings on the comment page of the site ottawa.indymedia.org blast (no pun intended) the firebomb perpetrators as idiots who demean the anarchist cause and needlessly indulged in violent destruction.
We at Libertas Post firmly believe in the right to protest and petition government. We have no problems even with peaceful civil disobedience.
We draw a very sharp and critical line, however, at wanton acts of violence and vandalism that could have easily injured or killed innocent people.
Let’s hope police catch these fools soon, before they perform mayhem (as they’ve promised) at the upcoming G8 and G20 summits in Ontario.
They might not have to go any further than their own organization!
