The Canadian Taxpayers Federation has some good news to report in the battle to reveal MP expenses. The CTF sent the following communique on June 9:

Big Bad Brian Mulroney

by Nate Hendley - 01/06/2010

We don’t like giving these awards out to Conservatives, but former Tory PM Brian Mulroney seems entirely deserving of this dishonour.

No matter what way you slice it, receiving cash from a lobbyist ($300,000 according to a recently completed inquiry, $225,000 according to Mulroney), taking seven years to declare it to the taxman, then having the gall to launch a libel suit against the federal government for daring to suggest he might take kickbacks, is pretty damn sleazy behavior.

Homegrown Wannabe Terror Bombers

by Nate Hendley - 19/05/2010

Our Turkey of the Week award goes to the wannabe anarchists who claimed responsibility for fire bombing a Royal Bank in downtown Ottawa on May 18. Said bombing resulted in an estimated $300,000 in damages.

The terrorists-in-training claimed they committed this act to protest RBC’s sponsorship of the Vancouver Olympics (an event held on “stolen indigenous land” according to the firebugs) and the bank’s involvement in the Alberta tar sands.
