The objections I’ve heard about proposed conservative news network Sun TV range from the fearful to the absurd. The primary concern is that the channel would “lie like Fox News”, and mislead people about important issues (as if CTV and CBC never mislead their viewers).

In the past, I’ve expressed surprise and dismay that the modern leftwing movement appears to have aligned itself with some fairly distressing bedfellows. You generally find that the people most likely to give the benefit of the doubt to suspected terrorists are from the left. When it comes to the war in Afghanistan or Iraq, it’s never the suicide bombers or the Taliban or al-Qaeda that get condemned, but western troops.

The British media is holding up Canada’s Liberal Party as the deficit-slaying ideal to which the current coalition ruling the UK aspires. New Conservative Prime Minister David Cameron is warning that Great Britain is about to radically change the way public spending is administered. Cameron is calling for citizens to expect drastic cuts to bring the nation back to balanced budgets.

Gaza Freedom Flotilla Poll Results

The results of our poll on the Gaza Freedom Flotilla are now in.

Fully 60% of respondents agreed that “Sending in commandos was a tough choice, but the right choice.” By contrast, our second place response—“There wouldn’t be a Freedom Flotilla if not for the blockade on Gaza” received a mere 18% of the vote.

The (hopefully) flippant response, “Who cares? Bomb the boats and feed the fish” (a 1980s punk-rock reference, if anyone cares to know) received 11% support.
